Fumigation

Fumigation is a collection fomented and fermented within the body, "like a rotting cherub." At turns "humanly wet" and geometrically precise, Andi Günther's lyricism can be sudden and acute — on the one hand forensically vivid and on the other devastatingly plainspoken ("I think a lot about my mouth").

Always mutable and mobile, and often exacting, the flatly affected reflections that temper Günther’s embodied poetics offer some of the most striking moments in the book. "Today is a circle," Günther observes, mapping "how time collapses into nothing."

"Eureka, It's May," Günther writes — and so it is.
